Storing the DVD

Where does TC & ME store the archive copy of my DVD?
TC & ME stores the copy of your DVD in a media safe storage vault that is not on our office grounds.

When does TC & ME store the archive copy of my DVD?
Immediately after making an archive copy of your DVD, that archive copy is placed into a media safe on our office premises.  Shortly thereafter it is delivered to our Storage location and placed within the vault.

How does TC & ME store the archive copy of my DVD?
TC & ME packages your DVD in a Tyvek sleeve designed for DVDs and places the DVD into our vault.  The DVD is identified by a barcode that is placed on to the DVD sleeve when the DVD is placed into the vault.

Why should I purchase the TC & ME storage option?
With the TC & ME Storage option you can be certain that if anything happens to your original DVD or to the pictures and documents used to make that DVD, TC & ME can replace the original DVD and reprint the pictures and documents that you lost.

Why can't I just store a copy of my DVD at some else's house?
Because someone else's house is no more secure than yours is.  If a fire or burglar can strike your home then they can strike someone else's too.  Your neighbor's, friends, or other family members may accidentally lose your archive copy.  With TC & ME's Storage option you know your archive copy is safe and won't be misplaced or get lost.

Can't I store my DVD in a safe deposit box?
Most safe deposit boxes are designed to protect paper, money, jewels, and other items that are more tolerant of high temperatures than DVDs are.  We do not recommend storing any audio/video/computer tapes, CDs, or DVDs in a safe deposit box.  We've never even heard of the banks themselves keeping their computer backup tapes in their safe deposit boxes.

Creating the DVD

How, exactly, does TC & ME add to an existing DVD or Digital Scrapbook?
When TC & ME creates your DVD we do not just put the Digital Scrapbook onto the DVD, we also include the project files used to create the DVD.  Since we have the original project files we can, at anytime, add to that project and recreate your DVD with new content.

How many scrapbook pages can be stored on a DVD for use in a Digital Scrapbook?
Your Digital Scrapbook can have up to 99 pages per disc.

I'm not getting a Digital Scrapbook.  How many documents and images can TC & ME store on a DVD?
This depends on the size of your documents.  In general, we can store hundreds of documents and images on a single DVD.

How long does it take for TC & ME to create my DVD and deliver it to me once I have placed my order?
This depends on the size of your order and how many orders are ahead of yours still needing to be processed.  We strive to have orders complete and delivered within 3 to 6 weeks of the initial order date.

What is considered to be a average scrapbook page?
An average scrapbook page is considered to be one with no more than 5 individual pictures on it.

How large of a scrapbook page or document can TC & ME scan?
TC & ME can scan pages up to 12x17.

What happens to the digital images on TC & ME's computer once my DVD has been delivered to me?
Once your DVD has been delivered to you and you indicate to TC & ME that you are satisfied with the DVD, all of your digital data is removed from our system.  The only copy of the digital data is on your DVD.  The exception to this is if you take advantage of our Storage option.  When you take advantage of our Storage option, there is also a copy of your DVD in our vault, but there is never any data left on our computer system.  Please see our Legal Notices and Privacy Policy pages for more information.

Using the DVD

Are the DVDs that TC & ME creates playable in all DVD players?
No.  The DVD player industry is not forced to implement the entire range of the DVD specifications.  For example, not all DVD players will play movies that have over 77 chapters.  There is no way to guarantee that a DVD will play on all players.  Most newer DVD players will play our DVDs.  However, TC & ME has sample Digital Scrapbooks that we can use to test your DVD player for compatibility with DVDs that have a large number of chapters.  For more information on player compatibility please see the official DVD FAQ.

Why does the picture flicker when I view my Digital Scrapbook on a television?
When displayed on a TV screen, some pictures  will flicker if there is a large area of high contrast colors.  This normally happens around the borders of the picture where the background is highly contrasted with the picture.  For example, a dark picture with a white background would cause a flicker around the border of the picture.  TC & ME will always try to have a background that does not cause flicker, but if you choose a custom background be aware that flicker may occur.

Can I play the DVD created by TC & ME on my computer?
Yes!  As long as your computer is equipped with a DVD player and you have software that allows you to play DVDs on your computer.  There are many software packages out there that allow you to play DVDs on your computer.

How does a Digital Scrapbook actually work?
When a page from your scrapbook is displayed on a TV screen, you can use your DVD player's remote control to see the next page, the previous page, or to play a slide show of that page's pictures.  Each page will have a next, previous, and slide show button displayed on the TV screen with it.  You use the DVD's remote control arrow keys to highlight the next, previous, or slide show button and then use the remote's select key to  select the highlighted button.  It sounds complicated, but it's really very quick and easy.  You can read our Instruction page to see how easy it is!

Pickup, Delivery, and Service Area

What are your pickup and delivery service areas?
TC & ME currently services the metropolitan area surrounding Minneapolis and St Paul Minnesota.  We will service large groups outside of the metropolitan area and even in Wisconsin, South Dakota, and Iowa.

Why is TC & ME's service area so small?
Actually, considering that we personally pickup and deliver your items directly to you, our service area is quite large.  In the future we do hope to expand our service areas by utilizing branch offices or drop off sites in most major cities.

I live outside of TC & ME's service area.  How can I get your services?
If you are interested in our service then other people in your area probably are to.  See if you can get a group of people together who are interested in our service; then we will gladly come to where you are and give a demonstration.  The more people in the group, the farther we will go.  If you do not wish to get a group of people together that are interested in our service then we can conduct business through the mail.

May I please mail my scrapbooks and documents to you?
Yes.  But, we would prefer that you did not mail us your items because we do not want to risk them being lost in the mail.  However, if you live outside of our delivery area and wish to mail your items to us we will accept them and convert them for you.  Always contact us before sending us any materials to be converted.

Can I email digital pictures to TC & ME?
This service will be added in the future.

Can I FTP digital pictures to TC & ME?
This service will be added in the future.
