Chapter Point - A marker in a video stream that allows the DVD player to immediately jump to that point in the stream. The chapter point can be jumped to using the "skip" keys on the DVD remote control or by linking the chapter point to thumbnails or text on a menu. For example, in a wedding video it is common practice to place a chapter point at the beginning of the saying of the vows. This allows anyone viewing the DVD to quickly jump to that point without having to watch, or fast forward past, the previous parts of the DVD. Chapter points are normally used to divide a video into meaningful segments or scenes. Chapter points are what give you the ability to navigate the DVD. DVD - Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc. We prefer Digital Versatile Disc because we store more than just video on it. Jewel Case - A plastic case designed to hold and protect a DVD when it is not in use. Menu - An image displayed on a screen that that gives the viewer information about the DVD they are viewing and/or provides the viewer a way to navigate, through links to chapter points, the DVD video or slide show. Thumbnail - A small image placed on a menu to help with navigation. When a thumbnail is selected the DVD will begin playing at the chapter point that is linked to that thumbnail. For a Digital Scrapbook, this is usually a small image of the first slide shown in a slide show. For a video DVD, this is usually a small image of the first frame of a chapter point. Title Menu - A special menu that gives information about the DVD. Usually the first menu seen by the viewer.
